Our nanny came back from a walk with the girls collected but upset. A cop stopped her to tell her that there had been a call of a suspicious black woman with two white girls. He was embarrassed and apologetic, but Miss Amazing was pissed, and rightly so.
Our neighborhood is filled with nannies and people of all colors and a rainbow of children. To think that our caregiver was targeted as suspicious is outrageous. Un-fucking-believable.
Who would do such a thing? Miss Amazing is incredible with the girls and friendly with other nannies and beyond awesome. The anonymous call just seemed intimidating and bizarrely vindictive in this day and age.
The last thought of "who" would do such a thing led me to the bottom of a list with the nanny we had to let go with all that drama three weeks ago. Once the thought occurred to me, I spoke to Miss Amazing with the "who" I thought it might be. Someone who would be mean enough to call the fucking cops on our nanny out with our babies.
Halfway through a physical description (after explaining details around her termination), Miss Amazing chimed in to finish the details. She had seen Miss Cray-cray and noted that she ignored the girls, but ran into her again and was nice. Conveniently just after the encounter with the police.
My best Misfit Marple guess is that she accidentally ran into Miss Amazing and was pissed to see the new nanny, called 911 to report her, followed her a few blocks until she was stopped by a cop, and then was all smiles after Miss Amazing was harassed and handed a super shitty day.
It helps to have a picture of your suspect in solving a mystery of this proportion. Miss Amazing identified her positively in the cell phone lineup. The circumstantial evidence points to a spiteful, vindictive woman (who happens to also be white) attempting to stalk and intimidate our caregiver. Unacceptable on so many levels.
Mama Bear Misfit called cops herself and was told to tell Miss Amazing to dial 911 if Miss cray-cray came near or tried to follow her again. Something I'm certain that Miss Amazing can handle. It further highlights how unhinged this woman was and how lucky we were to recognize the signs before we put a lady in charge of our girls who would dial 911 to harass a wonderful, loving, and delightful caregiver who has transgressed to take the job she simply failed to show up for.
